1 Corinthians 13:13 “Three things will last forever-faith,hope and love-and the greatest of these is love.” NLT

I love that line in that song. It says so much. Any one of us can say those 3 words. I love you. But why? Do they know why you love them? Do they know what makes them lovable? Take time to tell someone you love why you love them. I chose my Mom today. She is the strongest most amazing woman I know. She raised 4 kids on her own with no help what so ever from our father after he walked away from us. She began working, after being a stay at home mom for 15 years. She made sure we had everything we needed. We went to our extra activities after school and on weekends. She gave us money for movies when we wanted to go with our friends. She paid for a pool membership every summer for us so we could have a great summer. (And made us take swimming lessons until they finally told her we were too old for them!) She reunited with the boy she grew up next door to and waited 4 years for me to graduate before she married him, so I wouldn’t have to start over in high school. She never got a break. She never complained. She never spoke ill of my father. She did without. She sacrificed and she was and is amazing.
She taught all of us that we are never to become victims of our circumstances. Yes we came from a divorce family, a broken home. We were abandoned by a father that left and never took the time to look back. But none of those things were allowed to define us. We were taught to overcome those obstacles on a daily basis. We were never allowed to use our situation as an excuse (I tried once…bad idea!!!) We were to become what God wanted us to be. She showed us how to overcome by the way she lived everyday. But more importantly, by the way she loved us. If you ask any one of the 4 of us, we will tell you that we are her favorite. (It really is me, the other 3 just won’t admit it!) She loved us with actions. But she also loved us with words.
I am so thankful that God chose me to be her daughter. I pray that I teach my children all that my mother taught me. I love you mom. You are such a blessing in my life. What a legacy you have carried on into your children, and now to your grandchildren. Thank you for loving me through all of it! I am so glad you finally have your true happily ever after.
Thank you Laurel. You are amazing too and I love you most and first!
