Thankful for sacrifice

Today I am thankful to live in an country where men and women serve and protect us.  This is Veterans Day.  A day where we should take time to be thankful for those that lay down their lives for us, so that we may have freedom. These people leave their own families and loved ones so that my children and family can be safe.  They are in the midst of war, hate and evil daily.  They are true heroes! I am so blessed to live in a nation where I have the freedom to say whatever I want to say, worship in my faith, bare arms if I chose to, I can vote for those that run our country, and many, many other rights.

“Greater love hath no man, than to lay down his live for his friend.”  KJV John 15:13

I am even more thankful for the sacrifice the Jesus made on the cross.  God sent us His one and only son to make the ultimate sacrifice for each and every one of us! He did this without strings.  He wants us to come as we are.  Broken, weary sinners.  He came as a sacrifice to make us clean, to remove the burden our sins carry.  He came so that we can have eternal life.

Laurel spent 8 months caring for her first husband after being diagnosed with cancer in 2010. He passed away at 33, leaving behind a daughter of 7 and 5 year old twin boys. After sowing millions of tears, Laurel sought out God daily and began to plan for a life of being a single mother, but ready to raise their children in faith, hope and love. God gave her more than she could have ever imagined when she brought Matt into her life, along with his 2 children. He was recently divorced and the providence of God had been leading up to this life for more than 20 years! Now Laurel is reaping joy with Matt and their 5 beautiful children. Thanks be to God for all the beauty created from the ashes of death and divorce.
