In this day and age of social media, texting, and always feeling the need fill up our calendars with daily activities, meetings, sports practice or social events where does that leave the ones you love the most? I am guilty of giving everyone else my best and giving my family whatever is left over. And… Continue reading Love one another
Moving forward
I admit, my pity party was ugly. Not something I share often. I like things to be all happy and sunshine. However, I have had one too many gray and dreary days. Too many weeks of sick kiddo’s and minor catastrophes! But I am over it. I am so thankful that His mercies are indeed… Continue reading Moving forward
Throwing in the towel…
Lord I am tired. I can’t keep things going at this pace. I am tired of sick kids. Things going wrong. Friends hurting. Cancer. Divorce. Come swiftly Lord Jesus! I am ready to come home. Okay, I may be having myself a bit of a pity party, but my kids have been sick non stop… Continue reading Throwing in the towel…
No words
Okay, I have not blogged in several days now. I must admit, sometimes nothing comes to me. I am trying to only put out what God wants for me to write on. I am struggling today as well, but feel like I needed to touch base with any that are reading this. I must admit,… Continue reading No words
Have fun with someone you love! I spent last night with 2 perfect 8 year old girls playing Just Dance 4 on the Wii…and winning! It made us all laugh. Laughter makes everything better. When we make time to have fun, it makes the ones we love feel love. I could not find one person who would argue with this. We should always be looking for new ways to have fun with people we love. Make it a priority. You can do something fun everyday. It can be simple and quick, or a hours on end. They are both welcomed by all with open arms.
Today, January 21, MLK day and also inauguration day. As much as I do not agree with our current president, I did not vote for him, but I will respect him. I will also teach my children to respect him. Just because we have different beliefs and opinions, doesn’t mean I can belittle him in front of my children. I will not bash him or make ugly comments. Or I will do my best not to. Our biggest issue as a nation today is division. Our biggest issue in families and churches today can also be division. Make a choice to unite on a front. Whether it is over the color you are painting the living room, or figuring our your finances. Pick one thing in your relationship and decide to come together as one to accomplish it. The only thing hindering our progress is division.
This was a tough one to write today. I try and post what God places on my heart. He absolutely put this on it, I am just not quite sure where to go with it. I had a hard time putting it down in words.
Romans 15:5-6 “May God, who gives this patience and encouragement, help you live in complete harmony with each other, as fitting for followers of Christ Jesus. Then all of you can join together with one voice, giving praise and glory to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
Again, this was a tough one for me, and I am not sure I did it justice. I hope you can see beyond my meager writing to see the bigger picture. God has big plans for those of us who unite with Him.
Double doozie
January 18 challenge: Accept someone today. Do not judge them. Just accept them for who they are. We as a nation spend entirely too much time criticizing others and forgetting that we are no where near perfect. Jesus spent time with some pretty rough people. And he loved them all regardless of their past. Just… Continue reading Double doozie
I chose joy
Some days it seems almost impossible to be joyful! The kids have been awful, the car broke down, the dog chewed something else up, everyone was late to school and work, dinner burned, what else could possibly go wrong kind of day. I too am faced with days like these. However my mother used to… Continue reading I chose joy
I’ve got sunshine, on a cloudy day
Our weather for the last several weeks has been so gray, rainy and dreary, I am beginning to forget what the sunshine looks and feels like! So today, I challenge you to be someones sunshine. Bring them flowers, bake them cookies, pay for the person behind you in the drive through. This can be a… Continue reading I’ve got sunshine, on a cloudy day
Listen with your whole heart
Proverbs 12:15 “Fools think their own way is right, but the wise listen to others.” NLT When others speak do you really listen? I am guilty of half listening sometimes. I tune out, (a survival skill when you live in a large family), I let my mind wander and nod in agreement, I think… Continue reading Listen with your whole heart
If you just smile
I often find myself when I am home with a more serious face. Sometimes a frown, a furrowed brow, or no expression really at all. I look around at all that needs to be accomplished, and it sometimes “grumps me up”. How often do we smile at home. We are usually rushing out the door… Continue reading If you just smile
